Israel’s Foreign Minister Faina Kirshenbaum says about 30,000 Hassids are coming to mark the Jewish New Year in Uman, the burial site of the Hassid’s prophet Rabbi Nahman

Israel authorities will monitor the arrival and stay of the pilgrims in Ukraine, the minister said.

An Israeli police unit is now in Uman to help maintain public order in the city.

Ukraine’s 400-strong police detachment will keep an eye over the city in the period.

Last years, 23,000 Hassids came to Uman for the festivities and prayers.
