December 20, 2011 was marked by the first day of the Hanukkah celebration in the Jewish community of Lviv. The candle lighting ceremony was held near the historic remnants of a famous Turei Zahav (Golden Rose, or Gildene Royze) Synagogue in Lviv. Below is a short video of the first day of kindling the Hanukkah lights. Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem and the miracle associated with it.
