The meeting with Mykhailo Kostiuk, head of the Lviv Regional State Council, provided a wonderful opportunity to discuss the challenges in the process of legal and physical restitution of Jewish burial sites in Ukraine.
The meeting with Mr. Kostiuk, governor of the Lviv Region, provided a wonderful opportunity to discuss the challenges in the process of legal and physical restitution of Jewish burial sites, especially as concerns the lack of will among certain regional and local government agencies to recognize such sites as places of historical and cultural heritage. Mr. Kostiuk expressed his concern for these issues and willingness to help find appropriate solutions.
